Statement by Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić-Radman at the event “Alliance for Multilateralism: Building the Network and Presenting Results”
26.09.2019 - Speech
Excellences, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to thank my colleagues, German and French Minister for bringing us together by starting this alliance of ideas and actions.
Croatia has always been a strong and vocal advocate of multilateralism while at the same time calling for necessary reforms that would enhance effectiveness and relevance of international organizations. That is of outmost importance, because global, common challenges demand multilateral solutions.
Croatia has already given its support to the Paris Call for Trust and Security in Cyberspace, and today, we join forces in order to establish the International Partnership for Information and Democracy. We also welcome other initiatives dealing with the most prominent issues of our time.
Croatia looks forward to contribute and to enlarge this Alliance, both with other countries but also with other stakeholders, like academia, business community, civil society and media.
In conclusion, allow me to quote our President H.E. Grabar-Kitarović who highlighted last year in her address at the UN the following: “Multilateralism starts from our own homes and in our own minds. It must not be an annual event. It needs to be our daily routine, a way of doing business in the world.”
