Generation Equality Forum (Group of Friends on Gender Equality)
2020 marks the 10th anniversary of UN Women, the 20th anniversary of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325, the base for the agenda “Women, Peace, and Security“, as well as the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (Beijing+25). In the light of this, UN Women together with Mexico and France initiated the multi-stakeholder process Generation Equality Forum, in order to achieve transformative, game-changing progress in realising the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, especially SDG 5.
By setting up six global multi-actor partnerships, so called Action Coalitions, with tangible and ambitious goals, the international community commits itself to fortifying its efforts to foster gender equality and realize human rights for all women and girls until 2025. The Action Coalitions are working on: Gender-based Violence; Economic Justice and Rights; Bodily Autonomy and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR); Feminist Action for Climate Justice; Technology and Innovation for Gender Equality; Feminist Movements and Leadership.
