COVAX is one of the three pillars of the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator. The collaboration of governments, global health organizations, manufacturers, scientists, private sector, civil society and philanthropy has set itself the goal of providing innovative and equitable access to COVID-19 diagnostics, treatments and vaccines.

The COVAX pillar is focused on the latter, coordinated by the WHO, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). By pooling of financial and scientific resources and a large and diverse portfolio of vaccine candidates, COVAX ensures that people all over the world will get access to COVID-19 vaccines once they are available.

The aim is to have 2 billion doses available by the end of 2021, which should be enough to protect healthcare workers, high risk and vulnerable people – also in developing countries, which would otherwise be unable to afford these vaccines. Therefore COVAX represents the best global solution to this pandemic because nobody is safe until everybody is safe.
